Testing for normal blood sugar
Part 4: How to Get and Keep Normal Blood
Sugar Levels
Education
Learning about your condition is essential
if you want to avoid diabetic complications.
Merely following doctors' orders may not be
enough. It is really worthwhile spending a
little time learning about how your body works
and what is in the food you eat. Pills and
medications are not the answer to this disease.
They only address the symptoms; they don't
address the causes. Only by ridding yourself of
the causes of dianetes will you live a long and
comfortable life.
Learn what foods affect blood glucose
levels
The only way to get your blood glucose under
control and regain your health is by changing
your diet. It obnly takes one meal to prove
that changing diets can work. After that, try
this technique for a week and you'll end up
with a much better idea of what foods make up
an ideal Diabetes Diet for your own unique
metabolism.
If you are feeling hopeless because you have
failed at every other diet you've ever tried,
the good news is that an effective diabetes
diet is a lot easier and more forgiving than a
low-fat, low-calorie weight loss diet.
Exercise
If you are eating the Diabetes UK or ADA
idea of a healthy diabetes diet, you may well
need to exercise to help with blood sugar
control. This is because the exercise helps to
use up the excess glucose in your blood, thus
lowering it. But, if you follow a diabetes diet
that doesn't raise blood glucose — the one
recommended here — then there is no need to
do that exercise.
Diabetes drugs
There are a range of drugs aimed at lowering
blood sugars. But they all have adverse side
effects, and none of them addresses the cause
of the problem. It is much better to rectify
the cause -- and that is incorrect diet.
Insulin
If you are a type-2 diabetic using insulin,
that is a sign of failure. But, if you have
been slavishly following doctor's orders on
diet, exercise and drugs — and getting
progressively worse such that you need insulin,
it is not you who have failed, but your doctor.
DIET
It was incorrect diet that caused your
diabetes. The only way to return to a normal
level of blood sugar -- and maintain it in the
healthy range for the rest of your life -- is
with the correct diet.
