14-Days' Menus

Day One

Breakfast

Half a grapefruit or small glass of grapefruit juice.

Traditional Fried Eggs and Bacon

Fry 2 medium eggs and 2 rashers dry-cured streaky bacon plus mushrooms or tomatoes in butter, lard or goose fat.

Lunch

Sandwich of two slices of bread, buttered, and packed with 50g salami and salad leaves.

Dinner

Minced Pork with Cheese Sauce

Fry 120g (4 oz) minced pork in lard with a chopped onion, 2 crushed cloves of garlic and a sprinkle of cinnamon; stir in a chopped tomato and simmer. Add a large handful of chopped flat-leaf parsley. Season to taste. Tip the minced pork mixture into a flat-bottomed ovenproof dish. Make a cheese sauce with 25g (1 oz) butter, 2 tbsp grated cheddar cheese and 1 tbsp single cream and pour on top of pork. Bake in moderate oven until top is crispy.

Serve with salad or cooked leafy vegetables.

Serves 1

It’s just as good hot as it is cold.
